Nutella Ice Cream

Given any excuse to make ice cream or a cupcake...or anything...I'll do it! A co-worker's son had his wisdom teeth pulled. All he can eat are things you don't have to chew?! Kind of crappy...but a GREAT excuse to eat a lot of ice cream!

This is just a basic vanilla recipe where I replaced 1/4 C sugar with Nutella, because it is insanely sweet on it's own...how is there a Nutella commercial saying give it ot your kids for breakfast?! That is insane!...anyhow...read on for the recipe!

Recipe:
1 C milk
1/2 C sugar
1 t salt
7-10 egg yolks

1/4 - 1/2 C Nutella

2 C heavy cream
1 t vanilla

Directions:
Place egg yolks in a large bowl & break up with whisk.
Pour heavy cream into a large bowl & set aside.
Pour milk, sugar & salt in a sauce pan & bring to a simmer, then take off heat.
While whisking egg yolks, slowly pour the hot milk mixture into the egg yolks & continue mixing until combined well.
Pour mixture back into sauce pan & heat until the mixture thickens enough to coat the back of a spatula (about 180 degrees F).
Once up to temperature, remove from heat, add Nutella & stir well.
Once combined, pour mixture into heavy cream over a fine strainer.
Stir the mixture well.
Chill in fridge for at least 4 hours, but for up to a week.
Once mixture is chilled, place in ice cream maker & follow instructions to operate machine.
When the ice cream is frozen, swirl in a couple spoonfuls of Nutella & place in freezer to harden.
